Grandiose Groshev
Game Notes on Friday, Nov. 17:
Syracuse left winger Maxim Groshev has been on a tear of late. Not only did the 2020 third-round pick notch his first A.H.L. hat trick on Tuesday morning at Bridgeport, but he’s been racking up points consistently over the past few weeks. Groshev has recorded at least one point in five of the last six games.
The Crunch are 3-1 when the Russia-native scores a goal and 2-0 when he posts multiple tallies like he has in the last two contests.
He is the first Russian-born player to record a hat trick for the Crunch since Nikita Kucherov posted a three-goal performance at home against the Amerks on October 12, 2013.
Groshev is also the only Syracuse skater to record both a shorthanded and power play goal this season. Only 10 players in the entire A.H.L. have fired a goal on both the man-advantage and the penalty kill in the 2023-24 campaign.
