Broad Street Bullied
Philadelphia (23-25-6) is in danger of joining a unique group in N.H.L. history of teams that have been shut out in four consecutive contests.
Only five squads have reached that undesirable milestone, the most recent coming 57 years ago from the Oakland Seals in the 1967-1968 campaign. The 1927-1928 season saw both the New York Rangers and Montréal Canadiens go silent for four-straight games. During the very next season, the Pittsburgh Pirates endured four shutouts in a row while the Chicago Blackhawks lumbered through a record eight-consecutive scoreless performances. The Flyers are the first team to fall to back-to-back-to-back shutouts since both the Buffalo Sabres and Vancouver Canucks suffered the same fate in the 2017-2018 campaign.
Philly had not been left scoreless in two-straight contests since the Minnesota Wild knocked them down in both sets of a home-and-home series on November 11 and November 14 in 2017.
Over this current streak, Broad Street has been bullied, being outshot 86-71, outhit 55-53, winning just 46.6% of their faceoffs, and surrendering more giveaways by a margin of 53-42.
